The three criteria consist of “excessive amounts of time spent obtaining sex, or being sexual, preoccupation with sexual behavior, continuing to take part in the sexual behavior despite knowledge of having recurrent social problems, and psychological problems” (Carnes, P & Adams, K. 2002, p. 9). Furthermore, as a child, Mr. Bill’s mother was a prostitute, which may qualify as another member of his family being sexually addicted, he has a history of crisis because of sexual addiction, and he comes from a disengaged family. Mr. Bill is also given the following V codes; V15.41 Personal past physical abuse during childhood, due to abuse suffered as a child. V15.42 (z62.811) personal past history of psychological abuse in childhood, due to psychological abuse suffered as a child. V62.29 (Z56.9) problems related to employment, because of the fact that his employment is influencing his sexual addiction. V65.49 (Z70.9) sex counseling, intended for sexual addiction.
