The reason for nuclear targeting for viral proteins is still unknown. A study identified that small gtp binding proteins are found in the nuclei of the pva infected plant leaves whereas not in the healthy leaves (unpblished data). When the gene sequence is searched for similarity, it is found that a similar kind of protein is also found in Nicotiana benthamiana. In this study we use VIRUS INDUCED GENE SILENCING to check the role of this small GTP proteins in PVA infection using Nicotianabenthamiana as a model plant. We also check the expression levels of RNA by qualitative real time PCR.
