Wealth Inequality and the American Dream
For this essay, you will use two sources from your book and a documentary entitled “Park Ave” in order to create an argument that will discuss either income inequality or the American Dream. Use synthesis to incorporate the quotes into your argument. You will be discussing the topic at hand by using the authority of the sources, any examples or illustrations that may help your audience connect emotionally, and expert opinion and statistics gleaned from the documentary or readings.
Use two of the following sources from your text book:
Galbraith ” THE POSITION OF POVERTY”
Reich “WHY THE RICH ARE GETTING RICHER, THE POOR, POORER?”
Aristotle ” DEMOCRACY AND OLIGARCHY”
And at least one quote/paraphrase from the movie “Park Ave”

Essay Questions:
1. Using the texts and documentary, think about the following questions: What are some reasons for wealth inequality? Do we live in a society that offers an equal chance for all citizens? Why does this inequality exist? Can we ever have true equality in a democracy?
2. Using the information from Galbriath, Reich, and the documentary “Park Ave,” come to some sort of conclusion about whether or not everyone in America has an equal chance to succeed. Does the American Dream still exist in America today? Why/why not?
