English: Genres and film styles

Your research paper will take up any of the main types of genres or film styles that we have encountered in this course: Western, Blaxploitation, Kung-fu, Crime or Heist Films, Detective film or Film Noir, War films, etc. You may design the structure of the paper, but you should do the following in it: present your genre and its history, using secondary sources; present the two films that you will discuss with an original thesis; present primary source material on the film’s histories and receptions; and secondary sources of criticism; perform an original close reading or textual analysis of at least one scene; relate the films to each other or to the genre as a whole with your unique viewpoint presented. At least one of your films must be considered a classic example of the genre (therefore, older), but the other can be an updated contribution to the genre or even a remake.

i want you to write about (crime ) genre. i will provide an outline exercise and all the questions in it should be answered in the research paper or else i will send it back for revision. this exercise has all the things you need to have in the research paper.
this should be a professional research paper you have to cite properly and quote properly. whenever you use a quote in the research paper you have to first introduce it, then use the quote, and then explain it.
i will also attach a paper the has my annotated bibliography so you may take a look and use some of the sources that i have chosen. you must pick at least 2 of them and the rest you can choose but just remember that the sources have to be a combination of actual books, scholarly articles, and newspapers. remember that the total of movies that you will be talking about are 6 which are:
1. The Wolf of Wall Street
2. The Dark Knight Rises
3. The Silence of the Lambs
4. Shawshank Redemption
5. The Usual Suspects
6. Reservoir Dogs

the research paper should be 10 FULL pages
and put the works cited after the 10th page please

Your previously submitted reception study and your shot by shot analysis can be used (as parts 4, 5, 6, or 7) but only provided that they make sense within the longer context of your paper. However, you must revise them from the version you previously submitted and integrate all work appropriately with transitions and signposting.

Use this series of questions, drawing your answers from research you do in class today and that you’ve previously done, to guide your construction of a more detailed paper outline. (If you discover new sources while doing this exercise, make sure to make a note of where you found that information for your citations.)
