Common health condition that impacts many—if not all—of the systems of the human body.

Introduction

As part of the first Discussion in this course, you were assigned a common health condition that impacts many—if not all—of the systems of the human body. In each of the subsequent Discussions, you analyze the impact of that health condition on the systems you are currently studying. This week, you analyze the impact of your assigned health condition on the integumentary, skeletal, and muscular systems.

You may need to conduct additional research on your health condition, because most are only peripherally discussed in the textbook. Make sure to consult reliable sources in your posts and responses. If you are not certain whether or not one of the sources you identify is appropriate, in other words reliable and academically sound, refer to the Optional Resources listed in Week 1 or contact the Instructor.

To prepare for this Discussion:

• Review the integumentary, skeletal, and muscular systems in this week’s Learning Resources. Investigate how your assigned health condition impacts those systems. Select the system that is most significantly impacted.
• Determine whether your health condition impacts the system you selected directly or indirectly. Most health conditions have a profound impact on only a few of the systems. Remember that the systems of the body work collaboratively as a single week. A lack of homeostasis in one system often leads to dysfunction in other systems as well.
• Keep in mind that the health conditions identified in this course are selected because they have a direct or indirect impact on at least one of the systems in each week of the course. If you are struggling to identify the impact of your assigned condition to any of the systems in that week, contact your Instructor for assistance.
• Read the Discussion Spark topic/question or comment posted by your Instructor in the Discussion Thread on Day 1.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 2 a 1- to 2-paragraph response to the Discussion Spark. Important Note: The Discussion Spark and the weekly Discussion topic below will be graded together. You will see one score in your My Grades area.

 

 

• Part I of discussion – 1 to 2 paragraph Bulimia Nervosa  due Tuesday, 03/08/2016 by NOON
• Discussion Spark Explain whether the health condition has a direct or indirect effect on the system you chose, explaining why this system was impacted more than the other systems studied during this week.
• Describe how the health condition causes a homeostatic imbalance in the system.
• Analyze the body’s reactions to the health condition as it attempts to re-establish homeostasis

Part II discussion – 2- to 3-paragraph analysis that describes the impact of your health condition on one of the systems you studied during this week. Select the system most impacted by your assigned health condition. The analysis should:

• Explain whether the health condition has a direct or indirect effect on the system you chose, explaining why this system was impacted more than the other systems studied during this week.
• Describe how the health condition causes a homeostatic imbalance in the system.
• Analyze the body’s reactions to the health condition as it attempts to re-establish homeostasis.
