In some states in the country, juvenile crime is relative to adult crime, though they both have different methods of proceeding with justice and are pro- founded by separate philosophies. The juvenile system is factored on rehabilitation of an offender while, the adult system stresses more on the sentencing of the offender. In late 1970’s and early 1980’s, the criminal justice system began to look at the youth who committed crime in a new light. Modern times have changed how we looked at children in particular teenagers because we were seeing that they are as capable of committing crime as any adult. They have been corrupted by the rough upbringing and suffering many have endured throughout but other have been influenced by modern times and plan and simple bad parenting, where discipline and structured where not thought or enforced in order to help them grow and progress to live productive lives as adults. It is believed that children who have had an unfortunately childhood hood where they have suffered either physical, emotional and even mental abuse and have been neglected or any combination of these do not have a well-structured and stable home, and may not be held accountable for the crimes they commit during the youth years using their misfortune as an escape goat. Juvenile crime is blamed more on childhood pain and suffering, juvenile’s criminal actions are the result of either poverty or abuse by a parent. Some like to think that juvenile crime is an illness, I truly believe there are children who truly need that nurturing and guidance that they can be reformed and retrained to make successful, honorable productive members………………………………………………….
