Your Personal Museum Assignment

Create your personal version of an art museum, your “Gallery of World Art”:

Your Museum must have a theme: this can be subject, material, or content. Some examples are: animals, mythical creatures, women, gods and goddesses, cats, armor, shoes, jewelry, ceramics, architecture, etc.

Make sure you theme can range over the categories, for example you cannot do a specific religion or culture as it would not give you room for all of the categories.

 

Choose works from EACH of the following categories to be included in your museum, see number and date of each.

 

Include the image, the number of the category (the number 1-8 below), your own description ,the artist and title, date, culture, style, medium: info must be correct!

 

• MOST IMPORTANT PART: Curatorial statement: On a separate slide include each of the following:

-General information about this art,

– Information specific to the piece, culture, or artist.

– Information about the technique, materials, style, role of this art in — – the culture.

-Why you chose this specific work and how it fits your theme.

4-North American tribal or indigenous peoples. Number of images 1

5-African or Oceania tribal or indigenous peoples. Number of images 1

6-Contemporary Western European or American Art: from 1950-2013. Number of images 2

7-Art from West Asia, India  or Middle Eastern. Number of images 1

8-Ancient Art of Egypt, Greece, Rome or other ancient cultures other than Asian:any work before 500 C.E. Number of images 1

9-Your choice of 3  images that you find interesting, beautiful, or for any other reason, of any time or culture.
