This week I would like you to take a look at the eating disorders Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa:

1) Talk about the diagnostic criteria for Anorexia Nervosa in depth and compare and contrast those criteria with those for Bulimia Nervosa.
a. How are these disorders similar?
b. How are these disorders different? What makes them different?
2) Discuss the treatment options for both disorders:
a. How are the treatments similar for these disorders?
b. How are the treatments different for these disorders?
c. Why might the treatments be different? (Talk about the conceptual reasons why these disorders manifest and how that impacts treatment)
3) Lastly, discuss the sociocultural explanations of eating disorders:
a. In what ways are women especially influenced by the cultural ideal of thinness?
b. Discuss, in depth, some example s of how the thin ideal is presented to women and girls. Talk about several examples and attach pictures in your completed assignment if you want to illustrate your point. (It isn’t just in pictures.)
c. Why are the examples you discussed dangerous to girls and women? Not just in relation to eating disorders, but also to overall self-esteem of females and behaviors toward them by society.
