What organisation and why?

Nestle is one of the leading nutrition companies worldwide, that claims to enhance the lives of people and their pets around the globe by creating new products that support the healthy lifestyle. The organisation claims that it is highly environmentally sustainable and aims to be the leaders in the area by being efficient with the use natural resources. It also states that the social impact the organisation has on the society is one of their top priorities, along hand with health and wellness of its customers. In contrast to the reality, where the company has faces numerous scandals in all the fields stated above and more. By all means, the action plan presented below will analyse the key scandals Nestle has gone through in the recent years and will present theories that could help resolve those conflicts.

 Risk Management

 Baby formula aka breast milk

The biggest scandal Nestle has faced in its history was the baby formula boycott scandal. The boycott was launched in the United States of America July 7^th 1997, spreading all the way to Europe. By all means, the organisation was severely criticized for its marketing, which was specifically targeted towards less economically developed countries by falsely stating that its products can replace breast milk. Following by the illnesses and deaths of many infants due to the absence of the needed natural benefits breast milk has to offer.

Health Threats

Nestle has faced another scandal in 2008, which the world health organisation (WHO) has referred to as one of the biggest food safety events in the recent years, causing two executions and a number of life imprisonments.

The scandal included major health threats for its consumers, that had led to 860 infants hospitalised, 6 killed and over 300,000 victims as a whole. By all means, the organisation followed by taking action and promising to strengthen its chemical testing’s. But to face another scandal in the USA the following year, that now caused 50 people around 30 states to be hospitalised due to foodborne bacterium in Nestlé’s refrigerated cookie dough. Yet to promise once again a to take actions in regards to strengthen its chemical testing, making the society wonder why were they not implemented in the first place.

Nestlé’s chocolate fingerprints are forever imprinted in the unethical use of child labour in the cacao plantation. It is no secret that child labour reduces chocolate production prices by many times. Therefore, it is often found that children ages from 12-15 are working on the plantation that many companies like Nestle choose to obtain from. By all means, the International Labour rights filled out a lawsuit on the behalf of children facing abuse and labour against Nestle (and other similar organisations) in 2005.

Pollution

 Nestle claims to be highly environmentally sustainable, yet to face numerous scandals to do with pollution specifically.

It was found that in 1997 Nestle along hand with Cadbury has managed to breach the water pollution limits in the United Kingdom over 2,152 times in over 830 locations nationwide.
