4G Technology For Wireless Next Wave Information Technology Essay

In recent years there has been a phenomenal growth in the number and technical sophistication of what can loosely be termed ‘mobile devices’. Mobile communications and wireless networks are developing at an astounding speed, with evidences of significant growth in the areas of mobile subscribers and terminals.

Meanwhile, researchers and vendors are expressing a growing interest in 4G wireless networks that support global roaming across multiple wirelesses and mobile network.

According to the historical indication of a generation revolution once a decade, and now we are near the end of 3G standardization phases and the beginning of 3G deployment. 3G is necessary but not sufficient to the mobile communication strategy, in which many problems are only partly solved and there are still many problems left to be solved in the next generation,i.e.4G.

Many views on 4G have been presented so far and some of them see 4G as a linear extension of the existing wireless networks, neglecting the problem of running into the power trap.

However, most of the ongoing research can be classified into two different classes: 1) The main keys will be data rates, services, transmission ways, access technology to the Internet, the compatibility to interface with wire-line backbone network, quality of service and security etc.2) Some pieces of research are the standpoints of service subscriber, service provider, researcher and engineer [2] . networks, we can approach it following a network coverage hierarchy. In figure (1) illustrates the network coverage hierarchy shows, particularly highlighting the all-encompassing role of 4G. [3]
